Lucy browsed idly through the rows upon rows of books of music. Some were for vocals and some for instrumentals; she owned a lot of them already. Mostly Broadway stuff she'd never let anyone see she had, nor hear her sing. The only thing that Lucy had ever been at all self-conscious about was her voice, and though people oftentimes insisted that she was good she never believed them. Lucy could lead a protest, participate in debates and kiss a boy onstage, but she couldn't sing in front of anyone besides herself.
She passed by the music pieces, moving along to the racks of acoustic guitars set up on the wall. A smile lit up her pretty features and she ran a hand through her messy blonde hair happily, digging her wallet out of the back of her jeans pocket. It was a cute Spiderman wallet she'd bought at a garage sale, and she'd used it since she had turned eleven. Lucy glanced at a price tag and then at the contents of her wallet. She'd been saving up for ages; maybe she'd have enough.

Cintia was wandering around the Fairfield Mall, looking completely lost. In her hand was a note from the Orphange owner. It had a list of things needed and Cintia couldn't find one single thing. She had never been to an American Mall before and it sure was different from the ones back in England. She sighed deeply and looked down at the list. She stopped and patted her front pocket of her coat, where the money for everything was. She then looked down at the list to see that the owner wanted a cd. She looked up and she smiled as she saw that she was in front of a cd shop. She turned into it and started to look for the specific cd asked of her by the owner.
She browsed through the shelves, having trouble finding the Jimmy Buffet cd the owner of the Orphanage wanted. She had been so busy trying to find the cd that she didn't see somebody next to her and she crashed into her. "Oh, I'm sorry--" Although she stopped mid sentence as she saw who it was she had bumped into. Lucy Parker. A Juniour whom she was competing with for the heart of a certain Jacob Andrews, who happened to be her best friend. She glared at the girl and continued in her search of the cd until she heard Lucy say something to her.

Lucy felt herself get bumped none-too-gracefully and took a slight staggering step forward, looking slightly jostled. I swear, this store hates me, she thought dully, recalling that the last time she'd been here she'd been bumped into as well. She didn't understand how a person so small as herself could get jostled around as often as she did.
She heard the girl start to apologize and turned to tell her to forget it, but that thought left her mind when she saw who had bumped her. Oh. It was Cintia, that freshman. That pretty redheaded gorgeous perfect freshman, with the British accent and everything.
Oh.
Trying to remain civil, Lucy shrugged her shoulders. "I tend to get shoved around a lot," she said nonchalantly, looking back to her wallet and counting her money. She hadn't had as much as she did now in quite some time. "Don't worry about it."

"I tend to get shoved around a lot. Don't worry about it.
Cintia was surprised to say the least as she heard the civiled tone used by Lucy, whom she thought hated her. She shrugged as well. "Well, alright." She said, her British accent seeming to float throughout the empty store, devoid of everyone except for herself and Lucy. The cashiers were probably off on break or something. She sighed deeply. "So....how are you?" She asked, trying to remain civil as well. She didn't need to sound all snappish and heated with this girl, no matter how much she annoyed her. It did no good to fight, yet the next thing Lucy said to her made her dislike her even more.

Lucy coughed gently, wondering why on earth Cintia decided to just stick around. The girl hated her guts, and to be completely and utterly honest Lucy wasn't her biggest fan, either. After all, the girl was competition, and she looked utterly gorgeous no matter what. And she was a redhead. What was so great about redheads that they always got the guy, every single damn time? Why couldn't it be the quirky blonde, damn it?!
Forcing herself to remain calm, Lucy quickly snapped her wallet shut, shoving it into her back pocket. "Peachy," she answered curtly, turning round to look at CDs. She was certain if she looked at Cintia she'd hate her even more for looking so perfect, as she always did.

"Peachy."
Cintia heard this and frowned slightly. She knew the girl hated her but the sarcasm still seemed to creep into Lucy's voice when she had answered her. She rolled her eyes as she glared at the Junior's back. "I was wondering if you could help me find this cd?" She said, hoping Lucy would turn around. No matter how much she disliked the girl before her, she still needed to bring this cd and a whole bunch of other things to the Orphanage owner and she only had a specific amount of time. She sighed deeply, resisting the urge to tap her foot with impatience as she waited for Lucy to turn around.

Wow. She really just had no idea when to piss off, did she? Lucy was trying her very hardest to remain as polite and kind as she could, but she didn't want to actually have to socialize with the girl. Yes, alright, maybe she was an okay person. But with Lucy, she was always mean--not to say Lucy didn't return the resentment--and she positively didn't want to have to associate herself with this girl.
Still, she couldn't be so cruel as to simple say, No, sorry, better luck next time. I don't like you and I'm not going to help you out, Little Miss Perfect.
"Yeah, sure," she sighed, turning around. "What do you need?"

"Yeah, sure. What do you need?"
Cintia smiled as she watched Lucy turn around. Sure she hated her, but she still needed help. She showed her the list with the only thing circled, the rest being crossed out. It said Jimmy Buffet - Margaritaville, in Cintia's own neat and tidy handwriting. She didn't mean to be perfect and God knew how far she was from being perfect. She was still trying to adjust to the American lifestyle and her owner telling her to go to the mall and get things for her as if she had been there before had thrown her off completely. She waited although she knew that Lucy knew where every single CD was in the store, according to Jacob.

Lucy looked at the paper with raised eyebrows. It was a list of things she had needed to get, apparently--who made shopping lists, anyway?--and the one thing that wasn't crossed out quickly caught Lucy's eye. The blonde made a faw, her nose scrunching up slightly. She practically lived in this store, being as she lived and breathed music, and so she knew where it was, but...ew. Jimmy Buffet had never been way up there on her list. She found his music to be rather monotomous and quickly got tired of it.
"Wow, big list," she said idly, walking to go get Cintia her CD.
Lucy hated herself for being such a doormat and a pushover. She was always smile, and she was never able to get angry at people, at least not for an extended period of time. She was too damn forgiving, and if she actually did get annoyed--which was an extremely rare occurance--she'd only stay that way for a matter of a few minutes before forgetting the problem and becoming her bright, cheery self, as usual.
Her big brown eyes quickly found the CD and she snatched it up, tossing it to Cintia casually. "There," she said, wondering why she'd become so monosyllabic in her vocabulary.

"Wow, big list,"
Cintia nodded and wringing her hands as she looked down at the ground. She was surprised to say the least as Lucy actually turned around and went to get her cd. Lucy came back a few moments later, the Jimmy Buffet cd in her hands.
"There."
She caught the cd and murmerred a quick "Thanks" before making her way towards the cashier. She pulled out the wad of money in her front pocket and counted out $25.75, although being from England, they didn't really use bills so instead of giving the cashier $25.75, Cintia had given the cashier 35.75. Her face tinged with pink with embarassment as the cashier gave her back the change and she rushed out of the store, now on her way back to the dreaded orphanage to give the owner her things.
