--Artemis sat under a tree in the courtyard of the high school, late late at night. Most students were at the basketball game going on inside, but she wasn't. She wasn't in the mood for crowds tonight. She just sort of wanted, was to sit under the moonlight, and feed her secret passion. A passion, that she had always had, that was fed by a God given talent, that very few knew about. A passion, for taking what was around her, and putting it down on paper, in almost photgraph like clarity.--
--As she leaned back against the tree, the wind blew softly, the clouds floating across the full moon. Without even knowing really what she was doing, she extracted a piece of charcoal from her bag, and started drawing. The moon and stars came to life on her paper. The clouds seemed to move across the moon, and the milkyway enveloped her entire mind. Below the full moon, she drew an ocean, the moons shadow reflected upon it. The shading gave an image of a stormy night, dark clouds in the background, and choppy waves on the ebony sea.--
--As she drew, her long hair fell in her face, but she did not notice. The moon rose in the sky, and everyone left the school building, but she did not notice. People cast her odd glances, not recognizing her shadow, but knowing there was someone there. Hours past, and her phone rang, her mother wanting to know where she was. She didnt' hear. She heard nothing but the call of the waves on her paper. She saw nothing but the stars and planets in the skies coming to life on the paper. She felt nothing, but the warm sea breeze that seemed to envelop her being.--
--Only did she begin to feel again, to see again, to hear again, as the sun started to rise above her head. The warmth of the sun seemed to wake her from her trance like state. She gazed down at her picture, for the first time since she began, really seeing it. Not as a work in progress, but a masterpiece. One that could rival the best artisits in the world. She knew she would get a world of hell from her parents from not coming home, but she didnt' care in the least. All that mattered, was the charcoal on the paper before her. This was even better, than the painting she had done earlier that year. The painting, that got her a full ride, four year scholarship to the New England Insitute of Art, in Boston MA. --
--She really wanted to go there, more than anything in the world, but she knew her parents would not approve. They had done everything in their power to stamp the arts out of her. she was a jock, and athelte they would tell her. But she was more than that. She knew that now. As she looked down at her charcoal sketch, felt the charcoal smudges on her hands, she knew this was where she belonged, in the Art world. She was more than just a jock, and she would prove it to the world.--

It was still dark out, and that was how Seoras liked it. He pedaled to school in the quiet pre-dawn blackness, glad to be up at such an early hour. The rest of his family was still asleep, and over the years he had perfected his morning routine in the most stealthy way possible, so as not to wake a wrathful sibling or parent. They had gotten used to his oddities, accepting it as the norm for Seoras.
The school wasn't too far from his house, so biking was far more pleasant than driving a car, not to mention quieter. It came into sight as he turned a corner on the deserted roadway, and he coasted to the bike-locks. He secured his bike, shifted his bag to a more comfortable position, and stepped trought the front doors of the school. The janitors always were there even earlier than he and always left the front door unlocked for him. He headed down a main hallway, wondering what he would do in the massive amount of time before school actually started for the day. He didn't have any homework to do or anything, so he wandered to where he would be able to see out into the courtyard to watch the sun rise.
As he gazed out the window, a small shaft of light fell over the edge of the world and illuminated a figure outside. "Who's that? No one is ever here this early..."
Seoras walked around a corner to the door that led out into the courtyard and pushed it open. He reached into his bag and pulled out his math book, placing it between the door and its frame so as not to get locked outside. He walked over to the figure, who had now materialized into a girl, still curious.
Standing almost next to her, he recognized Artemis Saggezza, Queen of the Jocks. Had never spoken to her before...What was she doing here this early?
"Uh...hey...Artemis. What are you doing here this early?" he sort of mumbled, not even sure if she would speak to him. Jocks and individuals such as himself didn't seem to mix well at this school...

--Artemis watched someone arrive, and walk past her without a word. She watched him curiously, even as he came back out towards her. When he spoke, even though she knew he was going to, she still jumped. She smiled, and immediately went to hide her drawing. She stopped herself though.--
"No." she mumbled to herself..."I'm not hiding anymore..." she said, soon realizing she was speaking out loud. She blushed furiously, and gave up on trying to hide her drawing.
--She stretched her legs out, and her book fell open, face up on top of them. She smiled, and looked at the boy. He looked familiar, but she didnt' know him. Which was odd. She usually knew everyone. But he seemed to know her. She soon noticed a piece of hair falling in her face. She brushed it away gently, and smiled.--
"Feeding an inner passion, with the light of the moon, and the warmth of the sun....." she said, smiling.
--her eyes gazed up, to the moon still visible in the sky with the sun.--
"Nurtuting a God given gift, and releasing my need for eternal peace onto paper...." she said simply, like her explanation should be self explanatory. She didnt' realize, that it would confuse most.

Hiding? What? She was clearly talking to herself...
"Feeding an inner passion, with the light of the moon, and the warmth of the sun....."
"Nurtuting a God given gift, and releasing my need for eternal peace onto paper...."
Well, she seemed nice enough,,,now to figure out what she was talking about...
Seoras followed her gazed to the moon still floating in the sky, then looked down at the book open on her legs. He moved a little closer to see what was on the page.
"Woah..." he breathed. "I see what you mean." It was hand drawn, judging by the small lumb of charcoal in her hand... "That's incredible..."

--Artemis smiled, and blushed an even deeper crimson. SHe always did when soemone complimented her work. Especially a work she really liked. she shrugged, and looked at him.--
"Thanks uhm...." she said, smiling. "I dont' know your name...." she said sheepishly...."I'm Artemis. Artemis Isis Selene Marie Saggezza...." she said, taking a breath..."Why my parents chose such a long name, I'll never know..."
--She extended her hand to shake, but realized it was covered in charoal. She laughed, and wiped it on her jeans. She re-extended it, and smiled...--
"There we go. Don't want to make your hand all black..." she smiled

"I've got nothing against black," he said, taking her hand. "My name's Seoras, Seoras Nova Reinard. I don't know where my name came from either." Seoras looked down at the picture on her lap again. "Isn't drawing a bit out of character for the Jock Queen though? Especially better than anyone else in the entire town?"

"I've got nothing against black,"
--Artemis smiled, and looked him over momentarily. She had a habit of doing that, sizing people up as she met them. Some people found it offensive, some funny.--
"I can see that...." she laughed, and flipped her hair out of her face...again. "Oye." she muttered to herself.."It refuses to stay!" she looked back at him as he spoke
"Aren't you stereotypical?" she asked, smirking......"The Jock Queen thing is just a facade, hiding a secret passion, a secret love, a secret life. It satisfies my parents, and the people I'm around, and it lets me watch people, for my paintings, without getting odd glances. I'm just a face in the masquerade ball we are all living called life." she smiled...
--Why was she being such a philosophe today? She had no clue, but it was sort of fun. She laughed, when he said she was better than anyone in the entire town. In truth, she was better than anyone in the state, and in the top of people from around the world, but she hated to brag. She smiled, and shifted again. As she moved her sketch pad, a pice of paper fell on the ground. she cringed as she saw what it was. Her acceptance letter to the New England Insitute of Art, detailing the full ride four year scholarship they offered her. She knew that if she reached to pick it up, it would look suspicious. she sighed. Well, now you're defiantely not hiding it anymore....--

He snickered at her uncooperative hair. "I try not to be: judging is for powdered wigs and gavals."
I'm just a face in the masquerade ball we are all living called life."
"So, Aristotle, philosophise this much around your friends?" Whup, what's that? She dropped something...
Seoras bent over and grabbed the paper, glancing at it before handing it back. "Letter of acceptance to...the New England Institute of Art? With a full scholarship...I clearly chose my words wrong...I should have said country, not town. Wow...your parents know?"

--Artemis laughed. Aristotle? She didnt' get that one everyday. She smiled. --
"Not so much Nova...." she grinned...."If you get to call me Aristotle, i get to call you Nova....." she chuckled lightly.
--As he mentioned the letter, she blushed, again. The deep red stood out against her dark hair. she rolled her eyes, and sighed...--
"No." she said simply...."And I'm not planning on telling them. They wouldn't support it anyway..." she said, a hint of bitterness in her tone....."All they care about, is the jock, the sports and the money. They'd kill me, if they ever thought I was 'wasting a college education' on learning to be a 'street scum starving artist...' " she said, air quote accentuating. she realized she was being a bit....bitchy....."I'm not usually this much of a bitch....." she said laughing...."You just kinda hit a nerve there...." she said, realizing how much it had hit a nerve

"Very well," he responded with a smile.
"Oh...clearly they have never seen your work, you could make serious money with that passion of yours. Sports are a hit-or-miss game, but art..." He himself was trying to be an artist, though of a different kind. "I'm a bit of an artist myself, but words are more my style. I can't draw...but I can write. Or so I've been told."

--Artemis grinned, and leaned back against the tree...-- "really?" she asked, curiously....."Are you a poet? playwright? storyteller?" she asked... --For some reason, she was always intrigued by artistic people. especially writers. She yawned lightly, realizing she had been out, and awake, all night.-- "Oh, Sorry..." she said, her home taught manners kicking in...."Its not the company, I assure you..." she said winking, and laughing --It didn't even occur to her, that what she was doing, could be considered some serious flirting, but hey, maybe it did.... --

"Poems are more my specialty, but stories I can do. Plays...eh. I've tried, but the plots never really worked out. And I can't stand stage directions..." He smiled back. "Oh, and here I was thinking I'd been boring you...Wait, were you here all night? I'm here everyday this early, and no one else is ever here. I know there was a game last night..." He felt like he was shooting in the dark, but his night vision wasn't bad. She looked like she hadn't slept, and her clothes looked as though she had beeing wearing them for a while...

--Artemis smiled...--
"Poems? cool..." she said honestly.....
--She sighed, and stretched a bit. --
"Yeah...my parents are goign to kill me...." she said, laughing....."I didn't bother to go home after the game last night. I just got carried away in the moon, and my sketch....." she smiled, a small sad smile.
--She leaned her head on his shoulder, and sighed.--
"Hey Nova...." she said, closing her eyes for a moment..."Have you ever felt, like theres this whole other person inside of you, that is afraid to come out, for fear of what may happen?" she asked, her hand lightly touching his...."Like, theres a whole other part of your personality, that just wants to be acknowledged, but is terrified of the spotlight that will be shed on it?" she spoke slowly, deliberately, sort of in her own world

Seoras smiled and stroked her hair absent-mindedly. He was a little odd like that. "Every day. Every. Single. Day." He spoke softly, not one to raise his voice if he didn't have to.
What were her personalities? Not too hard. There was the great and mighty Queen of the Jocks, overlord (overlady?) of all that is sports. Then there was the Artemis Saggezza he felt priveledged to have met: artist, philosophe, and mysterious beauty.

--Artemis smiled, and looked up at him.--
"I'm glad I'm not the only one...." she sighed, a bit of sadness in her voice...."You're different from what I'd expected Nova....." she said quietly....."I'd thought you would have harassed me, the jock and the indi..." she sighed, and looked up at him again....."Thanks for listening, and not being like everyone else....."
--Artemis looked up at him, and lightly kissed his cheek.--
"Thanks Nova...." she said, a single tear running down her cheek
